    About

Professor Dabir works with understanding the mechanism of protein import into mitochondria of budding yeast and determining the process by which defects in mitochondrial protein translocation lead to disease. Developing small molecule inhibitors of protein import for use in mammalian systems to elucidate disease mechanisms.
Her research is interdisciplinary combining conventional yeast genetics, chemical biology approaches, and tissue culture.
Dr. Dabir received her Ph.D. in Biology from the University of Pennsylvania in 2006. She holds a M.S. in Biotechnology from University of Pune, India, 2000 and a B.S. (Honors) in Life Sciences/Biochemistry from the St. Xavier's College, Mumbai, India, 1998.
