Diane Benedict is Professor of Theatre Arts, and Director of the LMU Study Abroad Semester for Theatre Arts in Germany and at the Moscow Art Theatre (MXAT). Professor Benedict spent a year as a Fulbright Scholar in the Russian Federation at MXAT. She completed her undergraduate studies in Vocal Music and Journalism at the University of Southern California, her graduate studies at the Drama Studio in London where she was awarded the Lillian Hellman and John Gielgud acting awards working with directors from the Royal Shakespeare Company. At U.C.L.A., she received her M.F.A. in Acting and received the Richard Burton Acting Award, Jack Nicholson Acting Award, Hugh O'Brian Acting Competition, and Robert Reed Shakespeare Award. Professor Benedict completed her post-graduate work at MXAT in Stanislavski and Grotowski techniques and was also the recipient of a grant to research contemporary Brechtian Epic Theatre techniques at the Berliner Ensemble in Germany, and at the Netherlands Theatre Institute in Amsterdam.
