Associate Professor of Communication Studies
Professor Jason Jarvis holds a doctorate in Public Communication from Georgia State University (2014, Atlanta, GA). He also holds an M.A. in Rhetoric from Wake Forest University (1997, Winston-Salem, NC), and a B.A. in Religion from Emory University (1995, Atlanta, GA). His current research examines the political use of images in networked communication environments. Dr. Jarvis also maintains secondary research interests in environmental communication, which was the focus of his Master’s Thesis, and he is interested in Asian argument cultures.
Prior to entering his doctoral program, he spent seven years teaching debate and public speaking in Seoul, South Korea at both Kyung Hee University and the Korea Development Institute School of Public Policy and Management. He founded the Asian Debate Institute as well as the Northeast Asian Open Debate Championship and taught debate seminars at universities in Japan, China, Iraq, Bangladesh, Thailand, and
Slovenia.
