About
Professor Battaglia teaches the First Year Experience courses and accompanying labs. She has taught courses in Rhetoric, Interpersonal and Small Group Communication, Public Speaking, Intercultural Communication, Gender Communication, Business Communication, Argumentation and Debate, and Performance Studies. She is one of the two primary academic advisors in the Communication Studies department.
Her research focuses on postmodern theories of representation in various media forms and on the intersections of race, class, gender, sexuality and socio-economic status in the non-profit and educational sectors.
Professor Battaglia has a M.A. in Communication Studies from California State University, Northridge; a B.A. in English and Communication Studies from Loyola Marymount University.
