Abstract

In 1994, Oregon residents approved the Death with Dignity Act. Immediate implementation was delayed due to legal battles, however, and it did not go into effect until 1997. The debate over physician assisted suicide remains contentious, and has recently received much attention. This article offers a briefhistoiy of the issue and explanation of current activities related to physician assisted suicide.
