Research output: Chapter in Book/Report/Conference proceedingChapter

Abstract

This series of scholarly essays explores modern parallels to the war depicted in the ancient Indian story Bhagavad Gita, using it as a starting point to discuss whether violence in the name of religious observance can ever be justifiable. Rosen (the author of several books on East-Indian spirituality) edits essays covering Gandhi and nonviolence; abuse of ethics and morals to justify religious violence; and the Islamic jihad in relation to the war of the Bhagavad Gita. Scholars from varied fields and religious backgrounds write the essays.
