Abstract
In Buddy System, Geoffrey L. Grief explores the world of male friendships and details the ways in which men ‘‘do’’ friendship. Using his social work background as a foundation, Grief examines how men’s friendships operate and what men expect from friendships and emerges with both a typology of men’s friendships and a set of guidelines for men to form, build, and improve their friendships. Grief targets a crossover audience with this work: while the book relies on academic sources for its foundation, the inclusion of guidelines to create fulfilling friendships and overall tone of the writing is best suited for a nonacademic audience.
