Abstract

Press conference for the series of seminars, workshops and performances performed in Athens at the Michael Cacoyannis Foundation on Sept. 1-15, 2012. Prof. Zacharia is the Project Coordinator and Education Director for the first year of the program “Ancient Drama: Influences and Modern Approaches” 2012-2014. The Program has been approved and funded by the EU under the National Strategic Reference Framework 2007–2013, Improvement of Cultural Services in the Region of Attica/Operational Program of Attica–Ministry of Culture and Tourism of the Hellenic Republic. The First year program, “Wanderings of Odysseus,” includes the following activities: preparation in the U.S.A. (May-August 2012), performances, workshops, seminars and open rehearsals in Greece at the Michael Cacoyannis Foundation (Sept. 2012). The series will culminate with a performance of "Wanderings" (Sept. 12-15, 2012), an adaptation of Homer's "Odyssey" in Prof. Oliver Taplin's translation, directed by Prof. Rush Rehm, and performed by the Stanford Summer Theatre.
