Abstract
In this thesis, we explore the math behind magic tricks. We begin by discussing some prominent tricks, such as those using the Hummer shuffle and the Gilbreath principle. We then move on to discuss how de Bruijn sequences have been used in card tricks, introducing our own novel trick based on de Bruijn sequences and combs. We conclude by discussing the implications of our trick, as well as how it can be adapted based on the performer’s needs.
