Abstract
Emma Pérez's Queering the Border: Essays is a collection of her essays, fiction writing, poetry, and letters from 1991 to 2020. Throughout the book, Pérez analyzes borders, gender, sexuality, coloniality, the decolonial, and the decolonial imaginary. Each chapter takes the reader on a different journey, making one feel physically present within the stories, witnessing them. Moreover, from her earliest essay, “Sexuality and Discourse: Notes from a Chicana Survivor” (1991), to her latest ones in 2020, “Letter to Gloria Anzaldúa” and “The Imaginary as Will to Feel: Beyond the Decolonial Turn in Chicanx/Latinx Feminism,” the reader can see, feel, and sense Pérez's growth as a scholar, thinker, and writer.
