Abstract

New edition of a general introduction to the subject of the implicit political messages contained in films. Following a general review of film and politics and a discussion of the rise of film and of the film industry and censorship, the author compares American and European political films and discusses the rise of the political film in the Soviet Union, as well as how film has portrayed the images and roles of men, women, and blacks in our society.
