Abstract

Through a $urvey distributed to young adolescents between the ages of 11 and 14, the relationship between psychological maturity levels and deviant behaviors was measured. The brief survey was constructed of questions from the Erikson Psychological Stages Inventory (EPSI) in addition to questions regarding subjective age and questions on the occurrence of deviant behaviors, both taken from a prior study. The students were therefore classified into three groups: pseudomature, immature and mature. The study found a high proportion of pseudomature students in the sample, but this level of maturity did not correlate with high occurences of deviant behaviors.
